           주홍빛 비밀 '능소화'

 

   오늘 아침 마주한 주홍빛은
   숲이 삼킨 가장 뜨거운 비밀이었습니다

 

   홀로 서지 못하는 여린 뼈마디가
   어떻게 나무의 형상으로 우뚝 서 있는지
   저토록 찬란한 빛깔은
   어디서 길어 올린 혈색인지
   오랫동안 홀로 앓던 질문이었습니다

 

   단단한 옆 나무의 살을 껴안고 기댄 뒤
   그토록 요염한 주홍빛 꽃을 피워낼 줄이야

   마지막 수액마저 아낌없이 내어주며
   스스로 고목이 되어간 그 나무
   

   저 붉은 꽃은 그 나무의 혼으로 피워낸
   거룩한 숨결이었습니다

 

   위대한 약탈이자

   슬픈 사랑의 증거로 피어난
   능소화꽃이 
   그토록 짙은 핏빛인 까닭을

   오늘 아침 비로소 알았습니다.

The Scarlet Secret, 'Trumpet Creeper'

The scarlet hue I faced this morning
was the hottest secret swallowed by the forest.

How could frail stems, unable to stand alone,
rise so tall in the shape of a tree?
From where did it draw such a radiant blush?
These were questions I had suffered with alone for so long.

Only after leaning and embracing the flesh of a sturdy neighbor tree,
could it bloom such an alluring scarlet flower.

The tree that gave away even its last sap without reserve,
slowly withering into a dead trunk.
That red blossom was a sacred breath,
bloomed from the very soul of that tree.

A magnificent plunder and proof of a sad love,
I finally understood this morning
why the trumpet creeper's scarlet secret
is stained with such a deep blood-red.

朱き秘密 '凌霄花'

今朝、相まみえた朱の色は
森が呑み込んだ、最も熱き秘密でありました

独りでは立ち得ぬ、か弱き骨節が
いかにして樹の姿となり、毅然と聳え立つのか
あれほどに絢爛たる色彩は
いずこから汲み上げた血色なのか
永きにわたり、独り病むごとく抱き続けた問いでありました

逞しき隣の樹の肌を抱きしめ、寄り添いてこそ
あれほどに艶麗なる朱の花を咲かせようとは

最期の樹液までをも惜しみなく与え
自らは古木となりゆく、その樹

あの赤き花は、その樹の魂を以て咲かせた
尊き息吹にほかなりませんでした

大いなる略奪であり
哀しき愛の証として咲き誇る
ノウゼンカズラの花が
あれほどに深き血の色の理由を
今朝、ようやく分かりました。
